Globalisation is the process of international integration arising from the interchange and exchange of products, ideas, politics and, in particular, popular culture. It is also seen as a way in which international boundairies that once existed are broken down by advent of new technologies.
Global reach is the way in which a product has the potential to reach a global audience owing to a new methods of distribution and marketing
Global village is the idea that physical boundaries between countries appear smaller owing the new media technologies and that the worked is one big village where everyone can communicate to each other instantly. Marshal McLuhan (1964)
Crowdfunding where a company uses global reach to get an people to contribute money to make a product, this is made possible by the world being a global village as they can contact people from around the world to help.
Crowdsourcing: is where you use global reach to get people to contribute in making a product, this is made possible by global village as you are able to find and connect to people more easily.
Kickstarter was founded in 2009.
GoFundMe is a community site where altruistic people donate money to help others.
A succesful Kickstarter crowdfunding project was "Travel Jacket" which is a jacket with a neck pillow, eye mask, gloves, earphone holders, drink pockets and tech pockets. This was a very successful Kickstarter program with 44,949 backers pledged $9,192,055 to help bring this project to life. They had originally asked for a pledge of $5 or more to get help. It was the 4th most funded project on Kickstarter and the most funded clothing project. This was advertised through social media such as Facebook, they put adverts for the page and videos of the capabilities of the jacket. Social media was also used as a tool to get funding as they wanted to reach as many people as possible.
